Chris Nikic has been nominated for an ESPY for Best Athlete With A Disability, Men’s Sports.
The ESPY Awards recognize sports-related accomplishments on both an individual and team level. The first ESPY Awards were in 1933. They air on ABC each year.
Chris, a Special Olympics Florida triathlete and Champion Ambassador, became the first person with Down syndrome to complete an IRONMAN triathlon in November 2020 in a total time of 16:46:09. Chris’ accomplishment landed him on the Guinness World Records list and led to him winning the Laureus Sporting Moment of the Year Award in 2021. Since becoming an IRONMAN, Chris has been featured in global media coverage by ESPN, BBC Sport, Sports Illustrated and more.
