Patrik Laine has reportedly accepted his one-year qualifying offer worth $7.5-million for the 2021-22 NHL season.
Laine is coming off a tough year where the Winnipeg Jets moved him to Columbus, but he never really seemed comfortable under coach John Tortorella. The 23-year-old forward had 10 goals and 21 points in 45 games with the Blue Jackets, who finished 29th in the league after a disastrous run in the strong Central Division.
Over his five-year NHL career, Laine has a career total of 150 goals 271 points in 351 games. Originally drafted in the first round, second overall of the 2016 NHL draft by Winnipeg, Laine has been criticized for inconsistent play at points in his career, but has scored at least 30 goals in three of his five NHL seasons.
