Well, that’s one less Game 7 to look forward to.
The Florida Panthers have advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinal after beating the Washington Capitals 4-3 in Game 6 on Friday evening.
The Panthers, who finished first during the NHL regular season, haven’t won a playoff series since 1996, the team’s third year in the league and first time in the playoffs. They lost in the Stanley Cup final to Colorado, making the post-season just six times in the 25 years after.
The Panthers trailed the series twice, and a late power-play goal from Washington’s T.J. Oshie on Friday nearly ended Florida’s hopes at advancing. The game required overtime, but
Florida will play the winner of Toronto vs. Tampa Bay, with Game 7 of that series set for Saturday evening in Toronto.
