UNC Takeaways: NFL Draft Combine Interviews

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The effects of COVID-19 are still being felt across the football landscape as the traditional NFL Combine format has been replaced by on-campus Pro Days and media interviews.

Five Tar Heels – wide receivers Dyami Brown and Dazz Newsome, running backs Michael Carter and Javonte Williams and linebacker Chazz Surratt – received invites to the virtual combine and are now back in Chapel Hill to prepare for their Pro Day at UNC’s indoor practice facility on Monday morning. In addition to medical exams with NFL team personnel online, the players participated in a media session on Friday afternoon at the Kenan Football Center.

“Our team will be able to come out and look,” UNC head coach Mack Brown said. “The parents and the agents will have to be involved on Zoom. But the team and the scouts and our coaches and staff will be there watching. The pro coaches will be running the drills, so we will not be involved with the drills, but we’ll just be watching and supporting our guys.”

The NFL Draft will begin in Cleveland with the first-round selections on Thursday, April 29. The second and third rounds will take place on Friday, April 30 and the final four rounds will be picked on Saturday, May 1.
