In case you don’t recall, the Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t have a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft. They used their 2020 first-rounder to acquire safety Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Miami Dolphins. A move that has proven to be brilliant for the Steelers.
However, this doesn’t mean this 2020 NFL redraft by our friends over at Draft Wire doesn’t matter to the Steelers fans. In fact, in looking at the 2020 NFL draft through a new lens really gives perspective on just how well the Steelers drafted.
In their do-over, Draft Wire has Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool going No. 19 overall to the Las Vegas Raiders. Claypool had an impressive rookie campaign and looks poised to ascend to superstardom in 2021. Claypool led the Steelers in receiving touchdowns (9), total touchdowns (11) and was second in receiving yards (873). Claypool also led the team in yards per catch with 14.1 which is a number made even more impressive when you consider as a team they only averaged 9.6 yards per catch.
