Penn State tight end Pat Freiermuth is regarded as one of the top prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft.
After an outstanding career with Nittany Lions, Freiermuth has drawn comparison to a former Pittsburgh Steeler great at the position.
Joining the Ross Tucker Podcast earlier this week, NFL Films’ Greg Cosell mentioned that Freiermuth’s tape reminded him of Heath Miller, who is regarded as the best tight end in Steelers history.
Any guesses as to which draft prospect reminded @GregCosell of former Steeler Heath Miller? pic.twitter.com/rJNDFxpF7g

While their collegiate careers ended 16 years apart, Miller and Freiermuth’s production is comparable.
Freiermuth was virtually unguardable at Penn State, totaling 92 receptions for 1,185 yards and 16 touchdowns, the most by a tight end in school history.
In three season at Virginia, Miller caught 144 passes for 1,703 yards and 20 touchdowns. He did play nine more career games than Freiermuth.
Miller played his entire eleven-year career with Pittsburgh, finishing with 592 receptions for 6,569 yards and 45 touchdowns. A two-time Super Bowl champ, Miller earned a pair of Pro Bowl selections in 2009 and 2012.
The Steelers find themselves in the market for a tight end after the retirement of Vance McDonald earlier this offseason.
While they have more pressing needs elsewhere on the roster, Pittsburgh could pursue Freiermuth in April’s draft depending on how things shake out.
The 2021 NFL Draft kicks off Thursday, April 29 in Cleveland.
