Fort Wayne native Pollard attempts NFL return

(FORT WAYNE’S NBC) – Returning to the NFL after six years may seem unfeasible, but Fort Wayne native and former safety Bernard Pollard is pushing his body to do just that.

Through 10 weeks of training, the South Side grad-turned NFL star is feeling great but knows this is just the beginning of the grind.

“My legs need to know when I need you to play four quarters,” Pollard said to WTPA, via Zoom.

“I need you to explode into a hit when I need to explode into a hit.”

“When I get back in, somebody is going to feel all of this. I’m going to be play at 220 pounds instead of at 228, so they are going to feel all of this.”

Still early in the NFL offseason, Pollard said he’s gaining a feel for the League’s interest right now and plans on being in a uniform come fall.

The 36-year-old was a second-round pick out of Purdue and went on to play nine seasons in the NFL, winning Super Bowl XLVII with the New England Patriots.
