Which player among the 37 with Alabama football roots who had receptions in the 2020 NFL season made the best catch? According to the league’s choices of its top 100 receptions, it was Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper, a former Alabama All-American.
During the Cowboys’ 40-39 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 20, Cooper made a one-handed catch in the third quarter that resulted in a 58-yard gain.
In the NFL rankings, Cooper’s grab was the 13th-best catch of the 2020 season.
Seven of the catches in the top 100 were turned in by players from Alabama high schools and colleges, with Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill (West Alabama) appearing three times.
In the rankings, Hill had the catches that came in at No. 30, 80 and 97.
Also on the list were Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy (Alabama) at No. 15, Washington Football Team wide receiver Cam Sims (Alabama) at No. 28 and Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley (Alabama) at No. 38.

With 92, Cooper had the most receptions during the 2020 NFL season among players with Alabama football roots. Ridley caught 90 passes, and Hill caught 87.
The No. 1 catch came on a 43-yard touchdown pass from Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray to wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins with two seconds to play against the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 15. Dubbed the “Hail Murray,” the touchdown lifted the Cardinals to a 32-30 victory.
