The Chargers surprised many with the selection of Larry Rountree III in the sixth-round. I figured that the team would enter the season with the trio of Austin Ekeler, Justin Jackson and Kelley, but the addition of Rountree makes the running back competition enticing. Kelley, the fourth-round pick of the 2020 NFL draft, showed flashes but experienced some growing pains. The poor offensive line play is to blame to an extent, but regardless, Kelley will have to show he can be efficient on a daily basis in order to avoid getting the ties cut.
It all wouldn’t be surprising to see Jackson get cut, either, as he has dealt with his fair share of injuries throughout his career.
