Every Monday at 5:00 PM Central this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. This is your place to discuss all the NBA’s action happening during the week when the Bucks are off-duty.
The easiest thing for me to do on this piece each week is to simply slap up the standings as they sit at the start of each week. Indulge me yet again, won’t you?
The more I look at the state of play out East, the more I wonder just how shuffled the back end of the playoff bracket may look at season’s end. Recall that this year the 7-10 seeds will be drafted into a play-in tournament prior to the formal start of the playoff bracket. You’ll then note that seeds 7 through 13 in the East are separated by 5.5 games while seeds 7 through 12 in the West are separated by 4.5 games. There’s always a chance of one of the squads completely falling off, but if you’re invested in the league trying to gin up as many meaningful games as possible, this might just be the season for you.
On top of that, it’ll make following the standings all that much more interesting if you’re a Bucks fan. If Philly tails off with Embiid out and a two seed is within grasp, the variance of potential opponents could be massive. Whether you want Toronto, Indiana, New York, Atlanta, etc. in the first round is a matter of personal preference, but there’s a chance any one of them could be on the docket with mere weeks to go before the post-season.
