Three Westchester Knicks who could earn an NBA call-up

While the 2020-21 season was only 15 games, there were several players that performed well and made a great impact with the Westchester Knicks. These Knicks excelled on the court and could make a contribution to a NBA team with the skills they possess. Players excelled with their perimeter game, while others made an impact with their defense and hard work on the glass.

Here’s a few Westchester Knicks who could potentially get looks in the NBA.

3. Tyler Hall

Entering his second professional season, Tyler Hall continued to show that he is a sharpshooter from deep. He continued to hit shots, especially in late game situations against the Agua Caliente Clippers. The Knicks have counted on him to make those shots and he has delivered on multiple occasions over his Westchester career. The second-year guard shot 41.1 percent from beyond the arc in 53 games over two seasons with Westchester. Hall has shown the stage isn’t too bright for him and could make an impact with his perimeter shooting if he gets an NBA call-up.

2. Simi Shittu

In his first season in Westchester, Simi Shittu showed to make an impact in many ways. He started off the season with a double-double off the bench and thrived as a starter. Shittu has shown to run the floor well, works well in the pick and roll, and has great footwork. He works hard on the glass, especially the offensive glass where he gets second chance opportunities and can create additional offensive opportunities for the team. Shittu has shown he brings a lot to a team and showed he should be a contender for a two-way deal or 10-day contract.

1. Louis King

Louis King made a great impact in his first season with the Westchester Knicks with his defense and being a solid on ball defender. He showed he has have active hands, which he uses to forces turnovers and and create offense for the team. His 1.6 steals per game was top 13 in the G League during the 2020-21 season.

One of the significant improvements Louis King made during the 2020-21 season was his outside game. He shot 38.6 percent in his lone season at Oregon and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc in his rookie season with the Grand Rapids Drive, but saw that number increase to 45.6 percent on 3.8 attempts per game in his second professional season. King drained some huge three-pointers, which helped propel Westchester to an overtime win over G League Ignite. His confidence with his perimeter shot was evident throughout the 2020-21 season.

The Westchester Knicks have continued to put their players in the best position to succeed. 12 players have earned a combined 16 NBA call-ups since Westchester joined the NBA’s minor league in 2014. With that trend and with the ways these Knicks have played, it wouldn’t be surprising to see these three players get an NBA opportunity down the line.
