The Warriors from 2015 to 2019 went to the NBA Finals five straight years, and won the title three times.
In 2019-20, they finished with the worst record (15-50) in the league.
“The first four years of our run — the coaching was way more fun,” Kerr said Monday on the “Real Ones” podcast with Logan Murdock and Raja Bell. “We were joyful and everything was really simple and no agendas. And then that last year, things kind of went haywire. Even though we went to the Finals, it was difficult.
“I enjoyed last season — when we had the worst record in the league — more than I enjoyed that last season when we went to the Finals. We had young guys last year who were trying every day, working hard. We had a great energy, great spirit, great camaraderie. Losing sucked.
“But what you want is a good vibe. You want to look forward to going to the gym every day and seeing everybody. That last year was tough — when we lost to [the] Toronto [Raptors] in the Finals.
“There was a lot going on, some that you know about and some that you don’t. That was very difficult.”
The 2018-19 season — Kevin Durant’s last go-around with the Warriors — was full of drama for the Warriors. And it’s no secret that KD and Kerr were not on the best of terms.

Draymond Green explained on the “All the Smoke” podcast last April that the turmoil actually started early on during the 2017-18 season, yet the Warriors were able to overcome all the obstacles and win their second straight title.
Also, I want to make it clear that Kerr didn’t specifically mention Durant during his comments. He simply referred to “that last year/season.”
