Ray Allen gets into NBA cards game with epic purchase, card maker reacts

Getting a Logoman card signed by your favorite player is definitely the dream for any collector. The card itself, which is already a thing of beauty, is made even more valuable by an on-card autograph, especially if it’s done by a Hall of Fame-level star.

That dream recently came to life. In this case, it isn’t just any run-of-the-mill card enthusiast who snagged a monstrous banger. In fact, it’s the person on the card itself – NBA legend Ray Allen.

That dream recently came to life. In this case, it isn’t just any run-of-the-mill card enthusiast who snagged a monstrous banger. In fact, it’s the person on the card itself – NBA Legend Ray Allen.

In an Instagram post, Allen showcases his newly-acquired 2004-05 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Dual NBA Logo Autograph card. It features Allen, his former teammate with the Milwaukee Bucks, Michael Redd, and both of their signatures inscribed onto the card. At the center are two NBA Logoman patches from their game-used jerseys to complete the look of this exquisite item.

In the caption, Allen thanked Fifth Down Sports Cards for making this deal possible while giving a shoutout to Redd. He also added that trading cards are a great way to reminisce his past as a basketball player, which is forever immortalized in the card he just obtained.

In a perfect twist of fate, the card’s designer would end up thanking both Allen and Fifth Down Sports Cards in the same IG post. Karvin Cheung explained that during his time designing the card, he never expected that Allen was going to be one of the stars on it. He added that seeing his work making its way to Allen after 15 years is a dream come true.

This goes to show that in spite of the massive heights this hobby has reached, there will always be room for a feel-good story to happen anytime. It won’t be too long now before other big names in the NBA join the hobby, as Allen recently has.
