NBA Draft Rankings 2021: Where Kentucky Wildcats stand in The Athletic big board

It’s looking more and more possible that Kentucky will only have one player selected in first round of the 2021 NBA Draft.

Sam Vecenie of The Athletic released his latest Big Board this week, and he has listed Isaiah Jackson at No. 19 overall. Jackson is then followed by BJ Boston at No. 32 and Terrance Clarke at No. 36.

You can find the whole list below.

Vecenie does not have any other Kentucky player listed in his top 100, which means if players such as Davion Mintz, Olivier Sarr, and Keion Brooks decide to pursue their NBA aspirations, they would likely not hear their names called on draft night.

What makes this list so intriguing for Kentucky fans though is Isaiah Jackson.

With rumors continuing to swirl that Jackson wants to be the lottery or could return to school, his father confirmed that as he spoke with Kyle Tucker of The Athletic this week.

Here is what his father had to say:

“In my opinion, that’s what he is and needs to be. In the lottery, he’ll go to a team where he can play minutes and showcase to the world what he can do — and he hasn’t even shown half of what he can do,”

Wesley Jackson continued with this:

“We know his value, and we’re willing to be patient. … It’s not about income. Me and his mom have been working for years, and if I have to work another year or two, it’s no skin off my bones. And we had to let him know that, to take the pressure off him. I can wait.”

With the lottery only being the top 14 spots in the draft, it sure will make for an interesting storyline to follow until July.
