NBA DFS: Jimmy Butler and top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy basketball picks for May 24, 2021

It was in last year’s playoffs that the No. 1 seeded Milwaukee Bucks and MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo were upset by No. 5 Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Bucks get a chance for revenge this season and they’re off to a good start with a 1-0 series lead entering Monday’s 7:30 p.m. ET tip-off. Antetokounmpo had another MVP-worthy performance in Game 1 with 26 points, 18 rebounds, five assists and three steals, making him one of the top NBA DFS picks for Game 2.

Antetokounmpo ($10,800 on DraftKings, $10,900 on FanDuel) is among the most expensive options in Monday’s shallow NBA DFS player pool. With just two games on the 2021 NBA Playoffs schedule for Monday, you’ll have to go deep into the four teams’ rosters in order to find players to fill out your NBA DFS lineups. Before locking in any NBA daily Fantasy basketball lineups for Monday’s NBA DFS action, be sure to see the core lineup selections, player pool and NBA DFS strategy from Mike McClure, a DFS pro who has won almost $2 million.

McClure is a DFS professional with nearly $2 million in career winnings. He’s also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account.

And on Sunday, McClure included 76ers forward Tobias Harris as one of his top picks. The result: Harris went off for 37 points, six rebounds and two steals to return over 51 points on both FanDuel and DraftKings. Anybody who had him in their lineup was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Monday, May 24 NBA DFS slate and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.

Top NBA DFS picks for Monday, May 24

One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks for Monday is Heat forward Jimmy Butler at $8,500 on DraftKings and $9,100 on FanDuel. The five-time All-Star is coming off a near triple-double in Game 1 vs. the Bucks as Butler had 17 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists on Saturday. He didn’t shoot particularly well but that could have been a factor of rust as it was his first game in nine days.

Butler had the best year of his career in his 10th NBA season with a player efficiency rating (PER) of 26.5 which ranked fifth in the league. He averaged 21.5 points per game along with career-highs in assists (7.1), rebounds (6.9) and steals (2.1). Butler didn’t play in any of Miami’s three games vs. Milwaukee in the regular season, but he was dominant vs. the Bucks in last season’s playoffs including a 40-point game. With the Heat needing a victory to even this series, expect the very best from Butler, making him one of the top NBA DFS picks.

Part of McClure’s NBA DFS strategy for Monday includes rostering Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. ($7,000 on DraftKings, $7,600 on FanDuel), who posted 25 points, nine rebounds and two blocks in Denver’s Game 1 loss on Saturday. Porter Jr. is a finalist for the NBA’s Most Improved Player award and for good reason as he doubled his scoring average to 19.0 points per game on 54.2 percent shooting, to go along with 7.3 rebounds.

The Nuggets are dealing with injuries at the most pivotal time of the season as the team’s second-leading scorer, Jamal Murray (knee), and fourth-leading scorer, Will Barton (hamstring), are both out. That has forced Porter Jr. to become more of a focal point in the Nuggets’ offense and he hasn’t let the team down. He scored over 30 points three times this season with all three games coming within the last month. He’s a good bet to go off again in what should be a high-scoring affair in Game 2 on Monday.
