Golden State’s plans ahead of NBA trade deadline

The Golden State Warriors are not at top of the Western Conference anymore, but they are making the most out of the resources they do have. While Klay Thompson has been sidelined for the entire year and weapons such as Kevin Durant, DeMarcus Cousins, and Andre Iguodala no longer being on the team, the Warriors have put together an impressive 19-18 record this season. With the trade deadline approaching, the Warriors front office will have to decide on how active they will be in pursuing players and engaging in trades.

According to Drew Shiller of NBC Sports, President of Basketball Operations Bob Myers gave some insight on how “aggressive” the team will be in the following weeks:

“It’s the balancing act as far as what makes sense now, but doesn’t hamper us in the future,” president of basketball operations Bob Myers said Wednesday on 95.7 The Game’s “Steiny, Guru & Dibs” show. What can we do that maybe can be beneficial this year and into next year.

We’ll be aggressive. We’ll look around. There were years where we had the best record and were pretty quiet at the trade deadline. We didn’t really do much or make many calls. I think we’ll be more open in making calls and listening to calls than we’ve been.”

Stephen Curry has had one of his best seasons so far, as he has averaged 29.7 points a game while shooting 41.4% from downtown. Curry is unquestionably the face of the franchise, and the front office will have to decide soon on how they want to build the team around Curry if they want more championships being brought back to the Bay.
