So, what’s Melo’s next landmark achievement? If he continues to average 14 points per game, he could move past Elvin Hayes for 10th all time in scoring in late April.

While in a reserve role for the first time in his career, Anthony has played a crucial part in the Trail Blazers (25-16) recent success. On Friday, Melo scored 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting, hit three of his five three-pointers, and added four rebounds for Portland.

He wasn‘t the only one having a career night, though. Portland head coach Terry Stotts became the eighth active NBA coach to win 500 games, and his players were there to celebrate the moment.
