Jockey Made in America 250 at Road America

The NASCAR CUP Series and XFINITY Series were active at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin’s 4.048-mile Road America road course. On Sunday, Chase Elliott confirmed, again, that he is the current Cup Series King of Road Courses. The Camping World Truck Series will return to action on Friday, July 9, at the Knoxville Raceway dirt oval. The latest results and upcoming scheduled events for the NASCAR feeder series are also included below as well as details on all tracks mentioned in this column.

NASCAR Cup Series (NCS)

Sun, Jul 4, Jockey Made in America 250 – Road America – 62 laps.
– William Byron (#24 Chevrolet Camaro) won the Pole Award for Sunday’s inaugural event at Road America with a lap of 132.049 seconds, 110.359 mph. This is his 6th pole in 128 NCS races. It is his 1st pole and 17th top-10 start in 2021. Kyle Larson (2nd) posted his 13th top-10 start of 2021. XFINITY Series regular AJ Allmendinger (3rd) posted his 2nd top-10 in three NCS races this season. Anthony Alfredo (24th) was the fastest qualifying Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender (ROTY). Did not make the 40-car field: No one, there were only 40 entries.

– Chase Elliott (#9 Chevrolet Camaro) scored his 13th victory in 205 NCS races. This is his 2nd victory and 11th top-10 finish in 2021. It is Elliott’s 7th career NCS road course victory – he is now ranked 3rd on the NCS all-time wins list behind NASCAR Hall of Famers Jeff Gordon (nine wins) and Tony Stewart (eight). Christopher Bell (2nd) posted his 7th top-10 finish in 2021. Kyle Busch (3rd) posted his 13th top-10 finish in 2021. Chase Briscoe (6th) was the highest finishing ROTY. Polesitter William Byron led 15 laps but finished 33rd after spinning off course in the final stage after a bump from another car.

– Ty Gibbs (#81 Toyota Supra) won the Pole Award for Saturday’s event with a lap of 135.52 seconds, 107.532 mph. This is his 1st pole in nine NXS races and his 3rd top-10 start in 2021. Austin Cindric (2nd) posted his 15th top-10 start of 2021 and his 5th in five Road America races. AJ Allmendinger (3rd) posted his 3rd top-10 start at Road America. It is his 13th in 17 races this season. Since only 36 cars were allowed to make up the lineup, the following 37th to 43rd, in that order, did not qualify for this event: #66 Matt Jaskol, #52 Gray Gaulding, #0 Jeffrey Earnhardt, #15 Colby Howard, #61 Boris Said, #47 Kyle Weatherman and #74 Bayley Currey.

– CUP Series regular Kyle Busch, driving the Joe Gibbs Racing #54 Toyota Supra, scored his 101st victory in 361 NXS races. This is his 4th victory in four NXS starts in 2021. Daniel Hemric (2nd) posted his 2nd top-10 finish in four races at Road America. It is his 11th top-10 finish in 2021. Michael Annett (3rd) posted his 4th top-10 finish in nine Road America races. Polesitter Ty Gibbs led two laps but was credited with a 33rd-place DNF after his #81 Toyota’s transmission failed on lap 34 of the 45-lap race.
