Twitter reacts to Kris Moutinho’s performance at UFC 264 against Sean O’Malley.
Kris Moutinho punched his ticket to the UFC by accepting a short notice fight against rising star Sugar Sean O’Malley at UFC 264 in Las Vegas, NV at the T-Mobile Arena. While few were expecting much from the unproven fighter, Moutinho stepped into the Octagon and put on an inspiring performance.
Moutinho’s performance electrified the crowd. Moutinho took a page from the Korean Zombie’s book, eating everything that O’Malley threw at him while never pausing on his forward motion. The fighter showed heart reminiscent of the fictional boxer Rocky Balboa. Moutinho never once gave up on himself through a fight that saw O’Malley joined the list of leaders for strikes landed in a UFC fight.
Twitter exploded with an outpouring of support from new fans for Moutinho praising the unbelievable performance.
The fight may not have gone Moutinho’s way, but his performance likely gave him something more. As the UFC is always looking for fighters that excite the fans, Moutinho’s performance may have just landed him more than a one-time replacement fight in the UFC.
