Eddie Alvarez makes pick for Gaethje vs. Chandler winner

Eddie Alvarez makes pick for Justin Gaethje vs. Michael Chandler’s UFC 268 bout

There’s a lot on the line for Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler at UFC 268 and no one knows better what it’s like to be in the Octagon with the fighters than a former foe of each man … Eddie Alvarez.

So when Sean Brady asked for people to make their picks about who will win on Saturday night people paid close attention to what Alvarez had to say.

“True pick-em, gun to my head I’m leaning Justin because of the leg kicks and the fact Mike doesn’t have a great deal of [defense],” Alvarez tweeted. “Mike’s easiest path is the ground, He could dominate JG there. But it will stay standing and I’d say The second most violent man gets it done JG KO.”

Alvarez fought both men, so he has a unique perspective on the athlete’s fighting style.

He fought Chandler twice, both under the Bellator banner. Their first fight, at Bellator 58 in 2011 resulted in a loss for Alvarez via fourth-round submission. Their rematch came in 2013 and Alvarez won that match via split decision.

Alvarez fought Gaethje at UFC on FOX 30 in 2018 and defeated him via a third-round TKO. Alvarez now fights for ONE Championship in Asia.

It’s thought that the winner of Gaethje vs. Chandler could fight UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliviera next if Dustin Poirier doesn’t get there first.

UFC 268 takes place on Saturday live from Madison Square Garden in New York City, NY.
