The month of April features a variety of high-profile combat sports events. On April 9, MMA takes center stage, with UFC 273 being the fourth PPV of 2022. Within thirteen fights currently scheduled, two titles will be up for grabs in front of the Jacksonville, Florida UFC fans.
Due to Max Holloway’s injury, “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung looks to become the fifth UFC Featherweight Champion by dethroning Alexander Volkanovski. TKZ comes in as a massive underdog, but don’t sleep on one of the most unpredictable fighters in the UFC.
The co-main event features Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan finally getting their rematch with the UFC Bantamweight Championship on the line. Thirteen months ago, “No Mercy” landed the infamous illegal knee to the head of a downed opponent, making “Funk Master” the undisputed champion because of a disqualification. UFC 273 gives the Russian a chance to avenge the loss and win back the title.
Before UFC 273 switches to PPV, the preliminary card displays upcoming fighters looking to make a statement and climb the ranks. Some prospects to watch are Ian Garry, Darian Weeks, Mike Malott, Josh Fremd, and Piera Rodriguez.
