Predicting the best Second Basemen

Spring Training is well underway, as is the feature videos for MLB The Show 21. With Opening Day just a few weeks away and the release of MLB The Show 21 a little over a month from now, we’re continuing to predict the ratings of players in the game.

Today, we’re looking at second basemen. But before we dive into the list, here’s a recap of some of the positions we’ve covered already:

Now, without further adieu, let’s take a look at who I think will be rated among the top second basemen in MLB The Show 21.

Brandon Lowe (Tampa Bay Rays)

If you dig the long ball, then Brandon Lowe is your guy. The 26-year-old finished eighth in AL MVP voting last year after leading all second basemen with 14 home runs and 37 RBIs in the shortened season. Lowe also hit for a .269 average, which put him in the top half of players at the position.

In his first three years. in the Majors, Lowe has put together an impressive stat line that includes a .262 average, .342 OBP, .513 SLG and .855 OPS. As NBC Sports notes, he’s the only second baseman in the Majors to produce a 130 OPS+ and 30 homers since 2018.

Brandon Lowe is still relatively young, but he’s quickly emerging as one of the best second basemen in Major League Baseball and I think he’ll finally be recognized as such in MLB The Show 21. I don’t think he’s quite ready to surpass Jose Altuve in rating, but it’s fair to assume they’ll be close.

Rating Prediction: 88 Overall
