MLB PIPELINE RANKS PIRATES EIGHTH IN FARM SYSTEMS

In its latest farm system rankings, MLB Pipeline ranks the Pirates 8th among all teams. In 2020, Pittsburgh ranked 15th among all farm systems, but last year’s draft picks and this offseason’s trades boosted the Bucs seven spots in the rankings.

MLB Pipeline also selected Ke’Bryan Hayes as the Pirates first overall prospect. Following him is last year’s first round draft pick Nick Gonzales at No. 2 and RHP Quinn Priester at No. 3. Gonzales topped the Pirates’ prospect list, but Hayes took over the role after breaking out in the MLB last season.

Mitch Keller, who was ranked first in 2019, is now off the prospect list after breaking his rookie status in 2020.
