We don’t know exactly when, but Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot said on Tuesday that she expects fans will be able to watch the Cubs and White Sox, live at Wrigley Field and Guaranteed Rate Field, at some point this season.
“We’re in discussions with both of the sports teams,” Lightfoot said. “I think they’ve come up with very good plans, and when we are ready, we will announce what the future will look like for other potential spectators in the stands.”
The news came as Lightfoot also announced that people over the age of 65 would be able to start signing up for COVID-19 vaccinations at the United Center on this Thursday. The actual shots themselves will begin to be administered on March 10.
There will be 110,000 appointments available exclusively for Illinois seniors at the United Center vaccination facility. But if some of those 110,000 appointments remain after Sunday at 4 p.m., they will open up to other people in Illinois’ 1B+ phase of the vaccination plan.
