Here is the latest news and possible return dates for Mets players on the IL…
Jacob deGrom (forearm tightness)
DeGrom threw from 90 feet on July 28 and will throw a bullpen session on July 29, manager Luis Rojas said.
The next step after the bullpen session could be for deGrom to face batters.
DeGrom, who has been on the 10-day IL, had “no complaints” after throwing off the mound on July 25 for the first time since his injury.
Potential return date: Early August
Francisco Lindor (oblique)
Lindor worked out on the field at Citi Field on July 28, stretching and doing some light throwing while under the watchful eye of the Mets’ training staff.
Zack Scott noted on July 26 that Lindor was likely in the “three-to-five week type of area” away from a return to the team.
The above timeline would put Lindor back between Aug. 16 and Aug. 30.
Lindor landed on the IL with a right oblique strain on July 17.
Potential return date: Mid-to-late August
Noah Syndergaard (TJS recovery)
Luis Rojas spoke about Syndergaard’s progress on July 27, mentioning he was throwing off the mound for the first time.
“I was looking forward to this day, he was too. He’s been pumped up, he’s been working hard and doing everything,” Rojas said.
Zack Scott said on July 26 that Syndergaard could potentially work out of the bullpen if and when he returns to the team, which Scott expects to happen this season.
“It’s hard to crystal ball that right now. I’d say someone of the quality of Noah Syndergaard can help us in different capacities,” Scott said. “Whether that’s a reliever, a starter, I’d be thrilled with just having him and having that arm available to get important outs.”
Potential return date: Sept. 1
David Peterson (right oblique strain, right foot fracture)
The Mets transferred Peterson to the 60-day IL on July 24 to make room on the 40-man roster for Mark Payton, who was acquired from Cincinnati. But when Peterson was transferred to the 60-day IL, it was announced that he had suffered a Jones fracture of the fifth metatarsal on his right foot. He had surgery on the injury on July 27.
Potential return date: TBD
Jose Peraza (fractured middle finger)
Peraza took grounders at Citi Field on July 23 while still wearing a splint on his finger, which he is not close to being rid of.
Peraza was placed on the 10-day IL on July 20 with a fractured right middle finger. Over 52 games, he’s batting .205 with six home runs and 19 RBI.
Potential return date: TBD
Corey Oswalt (right knee inflammation)
The Mets announced on July 6 that Oswalt has been placed on the 10-day IL, retroactive to July 5, with right knee inflammation.
The 27-year old Oswalt started for the Mets on July 4, allowing three earned runs over 4.0 innings of work against the Yankees.
Potential return date: TBD
Robert Gsellman (lat)
The Mets transferred Gsellman to the 60-day IL on June 23, shortly after he was shut down from throwing for six weeks due to a lat injury.
Gsellman last pitched on June 19 against the Washington Nationals, when he allowed one run on three hits in 2.0 innings while serving as the opener.
Potential return date: September
Joey Lucchesi (Tommy John surgery) and Dellin Betances (shoulder surgery) are out for the season
