Dave Flemming throws shade at Dodgers during ESPN game originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
It’s spring, sure, but it’s never too early to sneak in a jab at the Los Angeles Dodgers.
In fact, that’s exactly what ESPN broadcaster Dave Flemming did Friday during a broadcast of the Dodgers spring training game against the Kansas City Royals in Surprise, Ariz.
As the Dodgers’ 7-5 win came to a close, the television feed panned to a young fan in the stands, donning a Giants hat. Flemming, a notable Giants broadcaster as well, couldn’t resist taking a shot at the 2020 World Series champions.
“By the way, I do appreciate on a Dodgers telecast, we snuck in a Giants fan out there beyond the outfield wall,” Flemming said. “It’s good for the rivalry. Just stoke the flames a little bit.”
Then, as the rivalry tends to go, Flemming took it up a notch.
“I could say that the Dodgers still have to get two more world championships to catch up to the Giants over the last decade, but I’m not going to say that,” he smirked.
Flemming’s counterpart, Jessica Mendoza, quickly pointed out the obvious, but Flemming deflected like a pro.
“Oh no,” he said. “We’re moving right past that.”

The Giants rivalry with the Dodgers is expected to be as intense as ever with LA coming off a championship berth. The Dodgers also acquired the controversial starting pitcher Trevor Bauer, who Giants broadcaster Mike Krukow deemed as the “perfect bad guy.”
There’s still nearly a month to go before MLB Opening Day, but any time there’s a dig against thmpe Dodgers, you know the baseball season is on its way.
