Cubs’ Rafael Ortega hits spring training walk-off grand slam vs. A’s

Is there something about the Cubs and hitting walk-off grand slams?

We saw it in 2018, when infielder David Bote famously drilled a walk-off slam in the ninth inning against the Nationals — on Sunday Night Baseball, no less.

Tuesday, with much different circumstances, the Cubs did it again. Outfielder Rafael Ortega took A’s lefty Nik Turley deep to send the North Siders home with a 9-8 Cactus League win.

Those different circumstances, of course, include Tuesday being a preseason game, one of the seven-inning variety under new rules in place for the first few weeks of 2021 spring training.

But hey, grand slams are always fun, especially when they’re walk-offs.
