Women’s Lacrosse Honors Seniors Prior to Season Finale vs. Mount St. Mary’s

The Central Connecticut State women’s lacrosse team fell to Mount St. Mary’s, 14-1, on Saturday at Arute Field in the season finale. Central honored its senior class of Jessica Denike, Rosie Sconzo, Makayla Hutchinson, Raphaela DaSilva and team manager Aiden Hall before the game.

KEY MOMENTS

  • The CCSU defense put up strong resistance to the Mountaineers through the opening half, but the Blue Devils’ offense was contained as well. Mount St. Mary’s scored three goals in each of the first two quarters to build a 6-0 lead at halftime.
  • Mount St. Mary’s doubled their goal total in the third period to take control of the game. CCSU would be held scoreless until junior Olivia Gianakos ripped a shot past the goalie with 1:26 to play.

NOTES

  • Sophomore Lauren Valluzzi had a team-high three shots to lead CCSU.
  • Junior Gaby Melendez had two caused turnoverrs and two groundballs.
  • Sconzo and junior Katelyn Parker each had two draw controls.
  • Sophomore Kya Risher made five saves, while junior Adrianna Richards had one save in goal.
  • Gianakos finished the season with a team-high 23 goals and 26 points.
