Women’s Lacrosse Fall to UNH in Home Opener

Central Connecticut women’s lacrosse fell to New Hampshire, 20-4, in its home opener on Saturday in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils got goals from junior Olivia Gianakos, sophomores Lauren Valluzzi and Angelina Anderson, and  freshman Talie Richardson.

KEY MOMENTS

  • The Wildcats scored five goals in the opening period and extended the lead to 7-0 early in the second quarter. Sophomore Lauren Valluzi would get CCSU on the scoreboard at the 11:09 mark of the second quarter. Sophomore Angelina Anderson and junior Olivia Gianakos would add goals for the Blue Devils in the period, but UNH would lead 12-3 at halftime.
  • Freshman Talie Richardson would score off a pass from junior Kate Ravizza to open the second half with 13:20 left in the third quarter. UNH would respond with eight straight goals to close the scoring in the game.

NOTES

  • Gianakos had a team-high three shots, including two on goal.
  • Sophomore Kya Risher started in goal and made 13 stops for the Blue Devils.
  • Risher added 11 ground balls, while graduate student Rosie Sconzo had a caused turnover.
