Women’s Lacrosse Earns IWLCA Academic Recognition

The Central Connecticut women’s lacrosse team and four Blue Devils were recognized with IWLCA academic honors it was announced Tuesday. CCSU was named an Academic Honor Squad, while graduate student Morgan Sinton and seniors Molly Coogan, Olivia Prizzi, Kaitlyn Rapp and Nina Sutton were named to the Academic Honor Roll.

Central was among 319 schools across Division I, II, III and NAIA that were recognized for their work in the classroom. In order to be named an IWLCA  Academic Honor Squad a program must attain a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year. In order to be eligible for the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student and have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. This season, student-athletes representing 103 institutions earned the recognition.

Central had 16 student-athletes named to the Northeast Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, while Sinton was also named to the NEC Commissioner’s Honor Roll for having a GPA of 3.75 or better. 

Sinton played in 12 games and led CCSU with 20 goals scored and four assists. Coogan played in 12 contests and had six goals along with 19 ground balls and a team-high 23 draw controls. Prizzi appeared in 13 games and collected 17 ground balls and had eight caused turnovers, while scoring one goal with two assists. Rapp played in 11 games and had a pair of goals. She added a ground ball and draw control. Sutton played in two contests in the COVID-19 impacted season.
