Women’s Lacrosse Drops Wednesday Tilt at Manhattan

Central Connecticut women’s lacrosse lost at Manhattan, 18-5, on Wednesday in a non-conference matchup in Riverdale, NY. The Blue Devils got a pair of goals from junior Madison Palumbo, along with goals from juniors Kate Ravizza and Olivia Gianakos and freshman Talie Richardson

KEY MOMENTS

  • Manhattan scored the games first two goals before Palumbo made it 2-1 at the 5:46 mark after converting a free position. Kate Ravizza would tie the score two minutes later off an assist from Gianakos.
  • The Jaspers scored two goals to close the first quarter and scored six more in the second to build a 10-2 lead at halftime.
  • Gianakos ended a run of 10 straight goals by Manhattan when she scored midway through the third quarter to make it 12-3. Sophomore Lauren Valluzzi assisted on the goal.
  • Palumbo and Richardson opened the fourth quarter with free position goals to make it 14-5 with 7:49 to play. The Jaspers would score the game’s final four goals.

NOTES

  • Kate Ravizza had a team-high six shots for Central.
  • Sophomore Kya Risher started in goal and made 17 stops for the Blue Devils.
  • Junior Gaby Melendez had four ground balls along with three caused turnovers.
