Women’s Lacrosse Drops Saturday Contest at Bryant

The Central Connecticut women’s lacrosse dropped its home finale to Sacred Heart, 14-4, on Wednesday at Arute Field. The Blue Devils trailed throughout in a wet and cold, windy game that was moved back due to thunderstorms in the area.

The Blue Devils got goals from three different players.

KEY MOMENTS

  • Bryant would hold CCSU scoreless for the opening 18:23 and build a 9-0 lead. Central would get on the board with an unassisted effort by freshman Katelyn Parker.
  • The Bulldogs would score five goals to take a 14-1 lead into halftime, before scoring the first two goals of the second half.
  • Freshman Lauren Valluzzi would convert a free position attempt and senior Olivia Prizzi scored unassisted as CCSU had back-to-back goals with 21:49 to play.
  • Bryant closed out the game with six unanswered goals.

NOTES

  • Parker would add three draw controls.
  • Senior Cooper Cowdin made 12 saves and had a team-high three ground balls. She would lead Central with 39 ground balls on the season.
  • Freshman Madison Cowdin had two caused turnovers.
  • Graduate Morgan Sinton led CCSU in scoring for the season with 24 points on 20 goals and four assists.
  • Senior Molly Coogan had a team-high 20 draw controls on the year.
  • Senior Emma Sullivan led the team with 11 caused turnovers on the season.
