Two meetings to look at on Tuesday, with my focus at Albion Park and Shepparton. Down below is best bets for the respective programs.
Albion Park
Best Bet: Race 2, Number 1, Delightful Lou
It’s always great to see well bred types step out on the track and Delightful Lou will be one of the better bred pacers going around on Tuesday. Being by supersire Bettor’s Delight out of multiple Group l winner Louvre, she’s bred to be a star. Whether she gets to that level is unknown but her trials leading in suggest she’ll make a winning debut.
Next Best: Race 7, Number 6, Sabrage
Hoping for sustained speed from the front. He has a tricky draw to overcome, but is blessed with brilliant gate speed so I am anticipating he will fly off the arm, as he has done in recent starts and been quite game without winning. Gets a great chance to be back in the winners list.
Value: Race 5, Number 1, Recipe For Dreaming
Tricky race, but I think this gelding is worth a speck each way. Be forgiving of his run last time when buried on the pegs and just not getting the rub of the green when third to General Montana. If he can land leaders back here, I think he’ll be quite dangerous at each way odds.
Shepparton
Best Bet: Race 2, Number 6, Beach Villa
Hoping for class to come to the fore. He has been somewhat of a bookies pal his past few given has been a beaten favourite on a number of occasions. But this is one of the easier races he has contested in some time and despite drawing wide, this is nearly D-Day for him. His best will see him win comfortably.
Next Best: Race 4, Number 1, Beach Life
Not easy for a first starter to win a race like this, but she does have the Emma Stewart polish, the pedigree and an excellent trial win to suggest she’ll measure up. The trial win came at Melton and she spanked them in a sharp display. It was sharp enough to suggest she’ll be more than competitive here.
Value: Race 1, Number 4, Alanza
I think this filly can run a bold race at odds. She brings inferior form compared to some of these, but the big tick for her is that all three of her career wins have come against older horses, which is always a big tick for a juvenile. Jack Trainor makes the trip from Sydney to drive so each way, she’ll do me in the opener.
