The IHF Council has awarded the two Wild Cards available for the 25th IHF Women’s World Championship to the National Federations of Poland and Slovakia.
In accordance with Chapter II, Article 1.1.2 of the Regulations for IHF Competitions, a Wild Card for senior events shall be awarded by the IHF Council. Further, and as stated in Chapter II, Article 1.1.3 of the same Regulations, another Wild Card shall be awarded by the Council for senior competitions in case “Oceania fails to rank 5th or does not participate” in the qualification.
Since Oceania did not register a team for the upcoming Asian qualification event, the aforementioned case shall apply. Consequently, the IHF Council awarded two Wild Cards for the 2021 IHF Women’s World Championship in Spain, namely to the National Federations of Slovakia and Poland.
Both have been included in the draw procedure and will be drawn from pot 4, according to the regulations.
