3. Sunisa Lee USA 14.500
4. Lu Yufei CHN 14.400
5. Elisabeth Seitz GER 14.400
6. Mélanie De Jesus Dos Santos FRA 14.033
7. Fan Yilin CHN 13.900
8. Angelina Melnikova RUS 13.066

8:15 pm. Elisabeth Seitz GER UB: Maloney to Ricna, blind change muscles a bit into the piked Jaeger, handstand good before the Downie to Pak, clean, van Leeuwen, some ankle form, a little piked in the toe full, into the full-in dismount, a tiny bit low with a hop. I HOPE she pulls this off! 14.400 (6.2, 8.200)

8:12 pm. Lu Yufei CHN UB: Tkachev to Gienger, some leg separation, but good catch, blind change to front pirouettes, legs apart on both, into the Jaeger, caught SO close, Pak with legs apart, van Leeuwen, fine, full-in, legs apart in the air, stuck! Could she be a medalist?! Nope, those leg separations got her. 14.400 (6.0, 8.400)

8:08 pm. Fan Yilin CHN UB: Inbar full to Maloney to Pak to Chow to Gienger, really strong throughout, toe half into her front pirouette series, comes a little late out of the first and gets stuck on the second, doesn’t give her what she needs going into the Fan dismount, and she stumbles back and falls. 13.900 (6.4, 7.500)

8:04 pm. Angelina Melnikova RUS UB: Inbar full to Maloney to Pak, legs apart, clean van Leeuwen, inbar half, a little crooked into the piked Jaeger but corrects well, gets stuck in the toe full, only makes it halfway around and has to hop off. Hop back on the full-in dismount, like Lee, she laughs it off. 13.066 (5.9, 7.166)

8:00 pm. Anastasia Iliankova RUS UB: Shang, Tweddle to Ezhova to stalder to Chow to Pak to van Leeuwen, very strong work! Toe full, just a little bend in the hips, connects to the full-in dismount, step back. Great routine! 14.833 (6.3, 8.533)

7:57 pm. Nina Derwael BEL UB: Nabieva, good air, Downie, strong, Derwael-Fenton to Ezhova to Chow to Pak, super clean, to van Leeuwen, some leg separation, toe full gets a little arched, to full-in, really close to the bar, small step. 15.200 (6.7, 8.500)

7:53 pm. Mélanie De Jesus Dos Santos FRA UB: Nabieva, clean, to Pak, also clean! Maloney to Bhardwaj, very nice. Clean van Leeuwen, inbar half to front pirouette, falls out of it and has to regroup, doesn’t come off the bar though. Stumble back on the full-twisting double layout. 14.033 (6.1, 7.933)

7:49 pm. Sunisa Lee USA UB: Nabieva, leg separation and doesn’t connect out of it, Bhardwaj, also on its own, Maloney to Gienger, good. Blind change to piked Jaeger to Pak, legs apart and caught close, van Leeuwen, legs apart, blind full almost in handstand, full-in was clean. That was a bit rough for her and she’s going to lose a lot in difficulty but she laughs it off at the end. Just looked a bit nervous. 14.500 (6.2, 8.300)

7:48 pm. Suni Lee chalking up and about to go.

7:45 pm. Uneven bars competitors are marching out now!

7:30 pm. Pommel Horse Standings

1. Max Whitlock GBR 15.583
2. Lee Chih Kai TPE 15.400
3. Kaya Kazuma JPN 14.900
4. David Belyavskiy RUS 14.833
5. Kameyama Kohei JPN 14.600
6. Alec Yoder USA 14.566
7. Rhys McClenaghan IRL 13.100
8. Sun Wei CHN 13.066

7:22 pm. Kameyama Kohei JPN PH: Had a few weird leg things at times but nothing he couldn’t work through. He does a weird like, bowlegged swing at times where his feet are glued but everything in between his feet and man parts are apart. 14.600 (6.8, 7.800)

7:18 pm. Rhys McClenaghan IRL PH: Ugh, legs come apart nearly at the beginning on the single pommel, looked like his hand placement was off, he tries to fight through but crashes onto the horse. Back on and looks gorgeous, working with rage now, Russians between the pommels were quick and clean, legs wild near the end before his Russians at the end of the horse, finishes strong, but this is devastating. 13.100 (6.4, 6.700)

7:14 pm. Kaya Kazuma JPN PH: Handstand pirouette at the beginning had some iffy hips, but gets through it tentatively into the rest of the set. Nice lines for the most part. Flairs near the end are well controlled, looked like he had tiny leg form issues a couple of times but nothing severe. He’s very happy with that! 14.900 (6.6, 8.300)

7:10 pm. Lee Chih-Kai TPE PH: Scissors to handstand back down to scissors into his flairs, so extended and gorgeous on all of them, I don’t understand how this routine is truly physically or mentally possible but this was BRILLIANT. 15.400 (6.7, 8.700)

7:07 pm. David Belyavskiy RUS PH: One-arm swing was nice, Russians on the single handle was nice, moves well through the rest, loses his leg form slightly before going up into handstand for his dismount, muscles it a bit but fights through and gets it. 14.833 (6.4, 8.433)

7:03 pm. Sun Wei CHN PH: Scissor to handstand back down to a few more scissors, up again, down again into his circles, starts on the single handle then moves between them. Very fluid. Russians on the handle, legs come apart, he tries to get it back together but falls. Hit the rest after getting back on. 13.066 (6.3, 6.766)

7:00 pm. Alec Yoder USA PH: Had an iffy start going up to handstand out of a scissor element, but recovered very well, smooth and clean through his circles, strong into the dismount! Great job. 14.566 (6.4, 8.166)

I don’t understand pommels well enough to understand why his E is so low…that’s why I’m here at the Olympics. Could it all have been from the early mistake?

6:57 pm. Max Whitlock GBR PH: Is he in a Rio singlet? It looks like it. I can’t tell. Moving pretty well today, looks better than he did in prelims. Hip form is what it is. Had a tiny struggle going into his dismount but this was a pretty strong routine. 15.583 (7.0, 8.583)

That is an almost unbeatable score…the crowd was like OHHHHHH.

6:56 pm. Pommels starting now!

6:48 pm. Medal ceremony just wrapping up for women’s vault!

6:33 pm. Women’s Vault Standings

1. Rebeca Andrade BRA 15.083

4. Alexa Moreno MEX 14.716
5. Angelina Melnikova RUS 14.683
6. Lilia Akhaimova RUS 14.666
7. Shallon Olsen CAN 14.550
8. Jade Carey USA 12.416

6:27 pm. Lilia Akhaimova RUS VT: Rudi, really piked off the table, straightens up a bit but is slightly shy in the rotation, big lunge back to save the landing. 14.666 (5.8, 8.866)

Tsuk double full is a bit stronger overall, hop back. 14.666 (5.6, 9.066)

14.666 average

6:24 pm. Angelina Melnikova RUS VT: DTY, legs crossed and apart in the air but a really nice landing! 14.666 (5.4, 9.266)

Cheng, pretty chucked, form is all over the place, but she sneaks out the landing, with a jump forward. 14.700 (6.0, 8.800, -0.1)

14.683 average

6:20 pm. Shallon Olsen CAN VT: Cheng to start, some leg form and a low landing with a step to steady it. 14.700 (6.0, 8.700)

DTY, clean, ALMOST stuck! Tries to hold it but takes two steps back to steady it. 14.400 (5.4, 9.000)

14.550 average

6:16 pm. Yeo Seo-jeong KOR VT: Does the Yeo! A handspring front layout double full, loses some leg form and has a deep landing but she sat both in the warm-up earlier so this was amazing! 15.333 (6.2, 9.133)

DTY, tons of power, very clean, big lunge back and hops it a few times. 14.133 (5.4, 8.733)

14.733 average

6:11 pm. Jade Carey USA VT: Balked her first attempt, does a Yurchenko tuck, my god. Looked like she got lost onto and off of the table. It was literally a timer.

Does an Amanar after with a giant lunge forward but it’s like, such a half-hearted attempt, this poor girl. She looks so devastated. 12.900 (5.8, 9,100, -2.0 ND)

12.416 average

6:07 pm. Rebeca Andrade BRA VT: Cheng to start, gets great height but not a ton of distance, that’s where she’s getting deducted. Also goes crooked in the air, balance check and chest down on the landing. 15.166 (6.0, 9.266, -0.1)

Amanar goes a bit tentative on the landing, big hop forward, then another little hop, but very nice in the air. 15.000 (5.8, 9.200)

15.083 average

6:03 pm. Alexa Moreno MEX VT: Handspring rudi, tons of power. A little piked in the air, leg form is pretty strong, just a little soft but no crossing. Hops on the landing. 14.766 (5.8, 8.966)

Tsuk double full for vault number two, legs apart on pre-flight, tightens up but then loses it slightly just before landing. Body line pretty well stretched. Chest just a little down and a hop on the landing. 14.666 (5.6, 9.066)

14.716 average

6:00 pm. MyKayla Skinner USA VT: Cheng, as good as she always does it, low coming off the table but makes up for it with quick twisting in the air, gets good distance. Legs glued in the pre- and post-flight. Small hop back. 15.033 (6.0, 9.033)

Second vault is the Amanar, really strong, tiny hop to the side. 14.800 (5.8, 9.000)

14.966 average

5:58 pm. The women have been introduced, gonna kick this off any moment now!

5:56 pm. Women are marching out now for vault! MyKayla is in Suni’s AA leo.

5:49 pm. They’re doing the medal ceremonies between events, by the way, so the men’s floor ceremony is happening now.

5:36 pm. Men’s Floor Standings

1. Artem Dolgopyat ISR 14.933
2. Rayderley Zapata ESP 14.933
3. Xiao Ruoteng CHN 14.766
4. Ryu Sung-hyun KOR 14.233
5. Milad Karimi KAZ 14.133
6. Yul Moldauer USA 13.533
7. Nikita Nagornyy RUS 13.066
8. Kim Han-sol KOR 13.066

5:30 pm. Milad Karimi KAZ FX: Double front half, good landing, tiny step. 3.5 to rudi, hops forward/sideways OOB. Front full to randi, stuck. Double double, tiny bounce in place. Little skid on the 2.5 to front double full. Clean triple full to finish. That second pass has me worried…

14.133 (6.4, 8.033, -0.3)

5:26 pm. Xiao Ruoteng CHN FX: Randi to start. 3.5 to barani, stuck. He’s like I might as well win this since no one else will. Double double, stuck. 2.5 to front double full, short with a hop to the side. Great on his flairs. Controlled. A concept! Clean double full side pass. Triple full with a small hop back. Best routine so far but his D might hold him back from the top of the podium.

14.766 (6.2, 8.566)

5:22 pm. Ryu Sung-hyun KOR FX: Double front full-in half-out, hop back. Front full to front triple full. Casual. Piked double front half-out, tiny hop back. Double double, small hop back, heel maybe out? 2.5 to front double full, short with a hop forward, OOB. He’s basically OOB on his circles, CHILD you are young but please go further away from the edge! Triple full side pass I think! A little short. 3.5 to finish, small hop.

14.233 (7.0, 7.533, -0.3)

5:18 pm. Kim Han-sol KOR FX: Piked double front half-out, hop back. double front half-out, tiny hop. Front full to randi, a little bit deep with a hop forward. 3.5 with a hop back. 2.5 to front…double full I think. Legs came apart in his circles and he falls out of them!!!!!!!!! WHAT. Triple full deep with a hop. LORD.

13.066 (6.3, 6.766)

5:13 pm. Artem Dolgopyat ISR FX: Double front full-in half-out, small hop. Front full to randi, little stumble. Double double, step to the side. 2.5 to front double full, tiny hop out of bounds. OOF. Pull it together! 1.5 is so floaty, to rudi, with a little balance check. Arabian double front half-out, stuck. Well, those landings could do him in…

14.933 (6.6, 8.433, -0.1) – ties Zapata but beats him on the tie-break!

5:09 pm. Yul Moldauer USA FX: Randi to start, stuck. Arabian double front half-out, also stuck. Front double full to front full, another great landing, and he’s been super clean in the air on everything. Flairs WEIRDLY get stuck in the middle, WOW, that was bizarre. 2.5 to barani. Double full side pass, stuck. Clean. Small hop back on the triple full.

13.533 (5.4, 8.133)

5:06 pm. Rayderley Zapata ESP FX: Double front full-in half-out, glad he kept it tucked and didn’t go for the layout. SUPER solid landing. 1.5 to piked double front, then a piked double front half, small hop. Stuck the tucked double front half. Double full clean and stuck. Stuck the 2.5 to front full! Finishes with a double layout, STUCK!!!!! That was incredible.

14.933 (6.5, 8.433)

5:03 pm. Nikita Nagornyy RUS FX: I hate that he’s up first. Piked triple back, comes close to sitting it but then just stumbles it back, many steps, and OOB. Piked double front half-out, chest down. Front double full to a solid double front, then 2.5 to barani. 1.5 to rudi side pass. Short on the double double, step to the side. He’s not gonna be thrilled with that.

13.066 (6.4, 6.966, -0.3)

5:02 pm. Nikita Nagornyy is out onto the floor and will begin in just a moment!

4:59 pm. The men have just marched out for the floor final in front of a small but rowdy crowd. The Israelis have a particularly big contingent here. I see four GIANT flags draped throughout the arena. And one small South Korean flag.
