Women’s Golf Through Round One after play is Halted at UAB Spring Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Marshall women’s golf team completed the first round on Monday at the UAB Spring Invite. However, an afternoon rain delay interrupted play in the second round at the Greystone Golf and Country Club and teams were unable to finish before darkness.
 
The teams will begin play Tuesday morning with what remains of the second round before moving on to the third.
 
The Thundering Herd is in ninth place.
 
Senior Kerri Parks leads the team and is tied for seventh. Parks recorded two birdies with one on No. 13 and the other the 18th hole to finish with a plus-3, 75. Fellow senior Stormy Randazzo is tied for 24th and recorded three birdies in the round. Junior Jackie Schmidt finished the first round tied for 34th overall in her first action of the 2021 spring season and scored an eagle on the par-5, 13th hole.
 
UAB is leading its home event by one stroke over Middle Tennessee. Sophie Burks of Middle Tennessee, Mikayla Fitzpatrick of Xavier and Tia Teinketo of UAB are all tied for first after scoring a 2-under 70.
