Women’s Golf Set To Co-Host Silverado Showdown

BOULDER — The University of Colorado women’s golf team will co-host the Silverado Showdown in Napa, Calif., April 5-7, with the University of Oregon.
 
The tournament will be played at the 6,192-yard, par 72 North Course at the Silverado Resort and Spa, which is the same location as the PGA’s Safeway Open.
 
Including the Buffs, there will be 14 teams competing at the tournament, including several other Pac-12 Conference programs. Arizona State, California, Iowa State, Northwestern, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Washington, Washington State, UCLA, UNLV and USC will join CU in Napa.
 
The tournament will be played over the course of three days, with 18-holes each day. Competition will begin on Monday and Tuesday at 8 a.m. PDT off the 1st and 10th tees, while Wednesday’s action will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. PDT.  Live stats will be available at GolfStat.com and results will be posted at CUBuffs.com after the completion of each round.
 
Colorado is coming off its best tournament of the spring, having recorded three of its top six rounds of the season at The Bruzzy. The Buffs shot their second best round of the year, a 4-over 292 in the second round of play, while they recorded their fifth-best round (296) and their sixth-best round (297) as well to finish with an 885.
 
Junior Malak Boureada tied for 15th at the event, shooting a 217, while senior Kirsty Hodgkins tied for 22nd with a 219. The duo has been a very solid pair for the Buffs. Bouraeda leads CU with a 74.00 stroke average, while Hodgkins is slightly behind her at 74.20. They are only separated by three strokes heading into this tournament.
 
This is the final event of the regular season for the Buffaloes before the Pac-12 Championships, April 23-25, in Stanford, Calif.
