Women’s Golf Finishes 7th at Pinetree Women’s Collegiate

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Penn State women’s golf team carded its second-straight round of 299 (11-over) on Tuesday morning finishing the Pinetree Women’s Collegiate tied for seventh in the 10-team field. The Nittany Lions concluded the week with a score of 906 (42-over).

Florida State shot the lone under-par round of the day finishing the tournament 2-under and securing the victory. Kennesaw State finished second at 23-over while East Tennessee State (28-over), Chattanooga (34-over), and Mercer University (35-over) round out the top-five.

The Nittany Lions were led by freshman Victoria Tip-Aucha (Vienna, Va.) who climbed 13 spots over the final 18 holes finishing tied for 15th with a score of 224, 8-over, marking her highest collegiate finish. Tip-Aucha registered her second consecutive even-par round to close out the tournament on Tuesday morning.

“I’m happy about how I played today and the second round yesterday,” mentioned Tip-Aucha. “Overall, I was striking the ball pretty well and rolling my putts a lot better than my first round. I changed strategies for the second and third round which also helped, especially with the greens rolling as fast as they did.”

Sophomore Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France) slid up a few spots into a tie for 29th after shooting a 1-over, 73, in the final round while junior Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) finished 3-over for the day and 9-over for the tournament and tied for 20th.

Senior Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) and sophomore Isha Dhruva (Katy, Texas) carded identical final rounds of 79 (7-over) while junior Taylor Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) finished the day with a 5-over, 77, in the third-round while playing as an individual.
