KINGSTON, N.Y. — The 63rd annual Ulster County Women’s Golf Association championship tournament is set for this weekend.
The three-day, 54-hole Championship Flight begins 8 a.m. Friday at Woodstock Golf Club with five-time defending champion Amber Pennington leading the 15-player field.
If the 19-year-old Pennington wins, she would tie Emma “Wiggie” DeLisio with six consecutive titles. DeLisio ruled the first years of the tourney, winning from 1959-64.
Cheryl Potter, who last won in 2014-15, has won the UCWGA title six nonconsecutive times.
The tourney moves to Wiltwyck Golf Club in the town of Ulster on Saturday, when the First Flight competition will begin. The Championship and First Flights conclude Sunday at Twaalfskill Club in Kingston. Sunday’s action will include the one-day Second Flight final.
