Tiger Woods transported to Cedars-Sinai for continued care

Tiger Woods was transferred from the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, one day after his single-car crash that left him with serious leg injuries and forced him into emergency surgery, the hospital announced on Thursday night.

The move, according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, happened on Wednesday night.

The Harbor-UCLA Medical Center said in a statement that Woods was moved to Cedars-Siani Medical Center for “continuing orthopedic care and recovery.”

Woods was taken to the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center on Tuesday by ambulance after he crashed his vehicle just south of Los Angeles that morning. He then underwent a “long surgical procedure” and needed rods, pins and screws inserted to stabilize his leg.

Woods’ team announced Tuesday night that he was awake and responsive after the surgery, and Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva confirmed on Wednesday that there was “no evidence of impairment whatsoever” and that the incident was considered an accident.

Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, in Torrance, is about 17 miles south of downtown Los Angeles and 21 miles south of Cedars-Sinai — which sits just between Beverly Hills and West Hollywood.

It’s unclear how long Woods will remain in the hospital. According to the Golf Channel’s Rex Hoggard, experts predict Wood will need at least a week before he can travel home to Florida.
