LAURINBURG — Competing against three other Sandhills Athletic Conference golf teams to open the new season on Tuesday, the Lady Raiders took fourth overall.
Playing in a nine-hole contest at Scotch Meadows Country Club, Richmond Senior High School’s three golfers finished with a combined score of 187.
Just ahead of head coach Keith Parsons and the Lady Raiders was Scotland High School (184). Pinecrest High School took first place with a team score of 122, followed by Union Pines High School (136).
It was a career day for one of Richmond’s senior golfers, Abigail Tatum, who shot a personal best 58 on the afternoon. She was followed by fellow senior Jamie Sears, who posted a score of 61, just three shots off her career-low from last season.
Newcomer and freshman Ella Munn rounded out Richmond’s effort with a 68 on the scorecard.

“So pleased with how everyone played today,” Parsons commented. “Abigail had a career-best round. They hit so many great shots during their round.
“Ella hung in there during her first high school match and posted a good score. All in all, a wonderful way to start.”
Pinecrest’s Kaitlyn Kruczek and Camilah Porras both posted a round-best score of 40, with teammate Jayden Ford adding a 42.
Sara Adams and Carolyn Coffey both shot a 43 to lead Union Pines, while Faith McCormick’s round of 57 was the best for Scotland.
The Lady Raiders will return to action next Monday in their lone home match of the season at Foxfire. Golfers will begin play in the nine-hole match at 3 p.m.
