The sixth edition of The Match is here and will kickstart June with a best-ball tournament featuring a star-studded field of four golfers.
However, this year’s event is a bit different than it has been in years past. There are no professional golfers participating in the 2022 iteration of the event. Instead, NFL quarterbacks Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers will square off against Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen in a battle between two of the game’s most talented veterans and two of its great, young passers.
The lack of a professional in the field will make The Match a bit more difficult to predict in 2022. Still, bettors can find plenty of betting information about the golfing abilities of Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes and Allen to craft a solid guess as to which pairing will emerge as the winners of the 12-hole tournament.
Which pairing is the best bet to win The Match? The Sporting News breaks down the battle between the Brady-Rodgers pairing and the Allen-Mahomes pairing.

The Match betting odds
- Tom Brady & Aaron Rodgers: -190
- Patrick Mahomes & Josh Allen: +155
According to WynnBet Sportsbook, Brady and Rodgers are heavily favored to beat Mahomes and Allen. This is hardly a surprise considering that Rodgers has the best handicap of any player in this group by far.
While Brady’s handicap ranks slightly lower than that of Mahomes, they are still ranked closely together while Allen lags behind the field.
Player | Handicap |
Aaron Rodgers | 4.6 |
Patrick Mahomes | 7.7 |
Tom Brady | 8.1 |
Josh Allen | 9.0 |
As such, Rodgers figures to be the biggest difference-maker in the field. His higher-end skill as a golfer will give his pairing an advantage.
It’s also worth noting that Brady and Rodgers both have experience playing in The Match. They will be used to the pressure that comes with playing golf under the spotlight; both Mahomes and Allen have experienced that playing football, but not on the golf course.

The Match prediction
It’s hard to justify going against Brady and Rodgers in this spot. There’s no real value betting them at -190 odds, but they are the two best golfers in the four-man group.
Rodgers’ handicap and the duo’s experience figure to be a big difference-maker in this year’s version of The Match, too. Neither Mahomes nor Allen has ever participated in it. Brady and Rodgers have.
As such, it may take Mahomes and Allen some time to settle into the event. That could prove troubling for the duo given that this is only a 12-hole competition. For that reason, rolling with Brady and Rodgers is the right move.
Winners: Brady and Rodgers in 10 holes.
