Pamplin Media Group – Oregon City Golf Club resumes league play

Beavercreek Road course cleans up damage from the ice storm, maintains COVID safety protocols

No fooling–Oregon City Golf Club’s leagues resumed play on April 1.

Golf rounds played in the U.S. increased by 13.9% in 2020, while equipment sales increased by 10.1% compared to 2019. Golf Course Industry Magazine reported that while other sectors of the economy took a nosedive in 2020, the annual improvement in U.S. golf retail sales surpassed the previous all-time high percentage gain of 10% in 2005.

Barb Marold, vice-president of the women’s league, said the OC Golf Club has cleaned up damage from the mid-February ice storm, maintains COVID safety protocols and is ready for golfers.

“Golf is a great way to get exercise, fresh air and safely socialize at this picturesque course that is enjoyable whether walking or riding,” Marold said.

OC’s Men’s Club has reserved morning tee times Monday through Friday. The Ladies Club plays on Thursday mornings offering nine- or 18-hole options.

Marold said members of the league make a friendly and social group with diverse backgrounds and skills.

“Our schedule includes a weekly game, guest day (and) combined scramble with the men’s club and fall tournament,” she said.

Applications are available at the clubhouse on Beavercreek Road, by calling 503-518-2846 or at ocgolfclub.com.
