Men’s Golf Sets New Team Record for Cumulative Points at Little 3 Championships

MIDDLEFIELD, Conn. – The Wesleyan men’s golf team hosted the Little Three Championships at the Lyman Orchards Golf Club (Jones Course) on Wednesday. Williams College prevailed in the windy conditions and was crowned Little Three champs by defeating both Amherst College (6.5 – 5.5) and Wesleyan (7.0 – 5.0).

The Cardinals’ 10.5 cumulative points earned is easily a new program record at the Little 3 Championships, besting Wesleyan’s previous high mark of 8.5 back in 2006.

The Little Three Championship features a unique format in which each school fields a team of eight players. In the morning, the teams are divided into four, two-player teams, for an alternate shot match play. The team that wins the match is awarded a point. In the afternoon, the eight golfers from each school compete individually in single match play. The Little Three champion is the team that has the better head-to-head record against the other two programs.
