ABILENE – The Lee boys golf team qualified for the Region I-6A Tournament on Tuesday after finishing in second place at the District 2-6A Boys Golf Tournament at Diamondback Golf Club.
The Rebels finished with a 317-302—623 total. Wolfforth Frenship’s first team was stellar as it shot 297-292—587 to take the district title.
The Region I-6A Tournament takes place April 21-22 at Tangle Ridge Golf Club in Grand Prairie. Lee’s girls begin their respective play two days earlier.
Lee was led by Kellen Young, who finished in sixth place in the medalist standings with a 152. Teammate Jackson Comer finished in a tie for seventh with a 153 to also earn all-district honors.
Midland High’s Alec Young was ninth with a 156, while Lee’s Drew Ironside finished tied for 10th with a 157 to also earn all-district honors.
Abilene High’s Jacob Wright was the medalist with a 143 total.
