It was a double Panthers victory on the links in Osceola on Thursday as both boys and girls claimed 1st place in a triangular against the Indians and West Central Valley. The boys shot a 156 led by freshman Evan Smith, who shot an even par 35, and claimed medalist honors with Beau Leisure shooting a +1 36 for runner-up to allow the Panthers to sweep the top two positions. The girls shot a 214 to Clarke’s 235 with Nikolle Kussatz shooting a 51 for medalist and Faith Roozeboom carding a 52 for runner-up. Coach Barry Smith tells KNIA/KRLS both Kussatz and Roozeboom have benefitted from practicing during their middle school years with the varsity.
Smith:
“She can really hit the golf ball and we’re just working on some things with her to get better consistency, and we have Faith Roozeboom and they have both practiced as middle schoolers, since we don’t have a middle school program, they can practice with the varsity, so we’re looking for big things from them.”
Both Boys and Girls are back in Osceola on Tuesday in a quad with Carlisle, Pella, and the host Indians.
