Hether cards 35 to lead Mustangs past Royals

FAIRFIELD — Rodriguez High’s Easton Hether fired a 35 and teammate Will Blair was next at 43 to power the Mustangs to a 233-350 Monticello Empire League boys golf victory over Armijo at Ranchos Solano, Thursday.

Aidan Nelson also broke 50 with a 48 for Rodriguez (1-2) with Kieran Skaalen (53) and Heath Moritz (54) rounding out the top five.

“Easton and Will played well,” Rodriguez coach Rodney Peters said. “Aidan, Kieran, and Heath all had their best scores so far this season.”

Armijo’s lineup was unavailable.

Rodriguez 274, Vanden incomplete: At Cypress Lakes Golf Course, Wednesday, Hether led the way with a 38. Next were Blair at 44, Nelson and Skaalen at 59, and Finn Haaff at 74.

Jerah Venkaiya (41) and Cayne Hill played (60) played for Vanden.

Vacaville 242, Vanden incomplete: At Paradise Valley, Thursday, Jack Mitchell at 42), Ben Wilhite at 44 and Dylan Dzierman at 45 led the Bulldogs. Rounding out their scores were Landon Omisko at 54 and Cody Jensen at 57.

Competing for the Vikings were Venkaiya at 44, Hill at 68 and Nolin McClaskey at 71.

Wood 284, Fairfield incomplete: At Cypress Lakes, Thursday, Sean Riley paced the Wildcats in the makeup of an earlier postponement with a 46, followed by William Booth at 49, Nick Talavera at 58, Trenton Conyers at 65 and Joshua Reed at 66.

Playing for the Falcons were Damien Golder (71) and Rocky Reyes (79).

Wood 266, Fairfield incomplete: At Rancho Solano, Wednesday, Riley paced the Wildcats with a 46. He was followed by Booth at 49, Reed at 52, Talavera at 58 and Conyers at 61.

Golder and Reyes each carded 81s for the Falcons.
