Golf Course Design Firm Launches New Website By Wide Open Tech by Mel Beasley

This week, Wide Open Tech proudly launched a new website for C R Lutzke Golf, a golf design firm that has worked on such courses as The Baths at Blackwolf Run and Eagle Eye. 

“Before we made the decision to build a website, I felt like it was going to be an overwhelming task that would drag on for months,” said Lutzke, the firm’s owner, lead golf course architect, and ASGCA member. “Wide Open Tech effortlessly proved me wrong and easily helped us create the perfect reflection of who we are, for the entire world to see!”

The Lutzke team believes the best golf holes are created and constructed simultaneously in the dirt in lieu of a design studio, according to their website. For 33 years, Chris Lutzke remained a loyal protégé of Pete Dye, helping with many of Dye’s top ranked golf courses around the world. The firm’s VP of golf course operations is C.T. Shaw, a Wilmington local, who has been deeply involved in Wilmington’s efforts toward raising funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The Lutzke team approached Wide Open Tech because they wanted to rebrand and enhance their presence online with a new website. They wanted the site to remain simple, yet modern and sleek. We achieved this look using heavy blacks and whites, and allowed the brand’s portfolio to stand out as the primary color and focal point. The site features the company’s design approach, team members, and includes detailed project pages that highlight each course. 

The Lutzke team provided a great deal of brochures, marketing materials, and media links that helped our in-house creative writers render the unique content that is currently on the official website. Throughout the entire design and development process, the Wide Open Tech team collaborated closely with the Lutzke team to create and place content in a way that truly captures the essence of the brand. 

“What we enjoyed most about working with Wide Open Tech was their willingness to listen to what we wanted for our website,” Shaw said, regarding the design and development process. “The entire team was dedicated to our project, and put a lot of effort into providing us with an experience and a product tailored to us.”

As spring quickly approaches, the C R Lutzke Golf team excitedly awaits the opening of The Baths at Blackwolf Run, a short game complex featuring a 10-hole par-3 course and a two-acre putting course at a Wisconsin resort called Destination Kohler, both slated to open in June, 2021.
