Former V-7 Golf Driving Range faces wrecking ball in Bethlehem Township (PHOTOS)

The former V-7 Golf Driving Range and restaurant in Bethlehem Township is no longer.

Crews Tuesday began demolishing the site on a 17-acre tract along William Penn Highway. Amanda Raudenbush, the township’s planning director, said there are no current plans on the books for the property.

In past years, developers have brought sketch plans to the Board of Commissioners with ideas for a complex of retail stores, a movie theater and a gas station/convenience store. Charles Chrin Cos., property owner, in 2014 additionally proposed a four-story hotel, restaurant and bank, as well as the movie theatre and gas station/convenience store concept.

Some commissioners then argued the 2014 plan didn’t fit in with the neighborhood and would bring too much density to the area. Chrin in 2010 proposed a supermarket, two restaurants and a small strip mall on the property but those plans also didn’t get past early discussions.

“There have been various plans for development over the years, but they are no longer on the table,” Commissioner Malissa Davis told lehighvalleylive.com.

The popular golf driving range and miniature golf course has sat vacant for at least two decades, Raudenbush said. It got its name from the seven Vedomsky brothers, who were part-owners of the property, according to the Lehigh Valley Ramblings blog.
