EKU Athletics Mourns The Passing Of Volunteer Assistant Golf Coach Tom Giacchini

Obituary

RICHMOND, Ky. –

 Eastern Kentucky University athletics and the EKU golf teams are mourning the passing of volunteer assistant coach Tom “Geo” Giacchini.
 
Giacchini passed away on Tuesday.  He served as an official volunteer assistant coach for the men’s golf program since 2014.
 
“We will play this week and the rest of this spring with heavy hearts and love for Geo,” Head Coach Mike Whitson said.  “He was such a huge part of our program and loved EKU golf more than anyone in the world.  The young men on our team will miss him greatly.  Our assistant coach, Will Sallee, will miss him greatly.  I’ll miss my van co-pilot, our time on the golf course together, and those talks on the long drives.”
 
Born on Dec. 5, 1957 in Schenectady, New York, Giacchini was the manager of Boone’s Trace National Golf Club.
